How is truman viewed as a president ?

I think the bombings could have saved a lot more lives if we had blown up a nearby uninhabitated island to warn them. Many people developed a distrust towards America after Hiroshima and Nagasaki. I think he did what he thought was a good idea at the time, but as we look back, things could have been handled alot differently.
