HP DV1000 No Sound Help Please?

i just installed a fresh copy of windows xp i got all the drive installed already except the audio drive. i already went to the hp website and tried to install Conexant CX20468-31 AC97 Audio Driver EQ and Conexant CX20468-31 AC97 Audio Driver but i get a result in failure can some one please help me ive been up all night... thank you.
