Pregnancy and Pills?

My wife was taking diane 35 before we got married and 2 weeks after our marriage. The doctor prescribed it to her to regulate her period. Now she stopped the pills but the doctor advised her not to get pregnant except after 6 weeks from stopping otherwise the child may be abnormal. Is this true? If she got pregnant now by accident through a condom break or something, what are the consequences?
